UEFA Champions League Qualifying: Series-Opening Victory For Bhoys

The first round of UEFA Champions League qualifying opened on Tuesday with eight games.

At Tallinn, Estonia:

Agim Ibraimi converted a penalty kick in the 81st minute to carry Shkendija to a series-opening 1-0 road victory over Nomme Kalju.

At Marijampole, Lithuania:

FK Suduva and visiting Red Star Belgrade battled to a series-opening 0-0 stalemate.

At Yerevan, Armenia:

Petros Avetisyan scored twice (PK-3', 45') as Ararat-Armenia defeated visiting AIK 2-1 in game one of their two-match series.

At Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan:

Yevgeny Postnikov scored the only goal of the match in the 68th minute as Astana took game one from visiting CFR Cluj 1-0.

At Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina:

Michael Johnston (35'), Odsonne Edouard (51'), and Scott Sinclair (85') each scored once as Celtic overtook an early deficit to upend FK Sarajevo 3-1 on the road in the opening contest of their series.

At Luxembourg City:

Douglas Packer (64') and Jean Borg (70') each scored a goal in the second half as Valletta battled back from two goals down to gain a series-opening 2-2 road draw with F91 Dudelange.

Adel Bettaieb (26') and Dominik Stolz (45'+2) each scored once for the Luxembourgian club.

At Oswestry, England:

Mevlan Zeka (89') and Astrit Fazliu (PK-90'+3) each tallied once in the waning minutes as Feronikeli came back from a two-goal deficit to gain a series-opening 2-2 road deadlock with The New Saints.

Gregory Draper (PK-49') and Aeron Edwards (77') each scored once for the hosts.

At Helsinki, Finland:

Lassi Lappalainen scored twice (21', 66') as HJK Helsinki dominated visiting HB Torshavn 3-0 in their series-opening match.
