UEFA Champions League Qualifying: Trond Kids, AIK, Dundalk, Bhoys, BATE, Maribor Advance To Second Qualifying Round

The first round of UEFA Champions League qualifying concluded on Wednesday with ten games.

At Solna, Sweden:

Henok Goitom scored twice (47', 52') and Sebastian Larsson once (PK-62') as AIK overcame their series-opening defeat by downing visiting Ararat-Armenia 3-1 in game two and won their series with the Armenian club 4-3 on aggregate.

At Cluj-Napoca, Romania:

Abdel Omrani scored twice (10', 31') and Yevgeny Postnikov once (OG-26') as CFR Cluj overcame their series-opening defeat by downing visiting Astana 3-1 in game two and won their series 3-2 on aggregate.

At Razgrad, Bulgaria:

Ihor Kharatin (14'), Michal Skvarka (21'), and Tokmac Nguen (48') each scored once as Farencvaros defeated Ludogorets Razgrad 3-2 on the road in game two and won their series 5-3 on aggregate.

At Baku, Azerbaijan:

Filip Ozobic (51') and Dani Quintana (90'+4) each scored once as Qarabag blanked visiting Partizani Tirane 2-0 in game two and ousted the Albanian club by that same score on aggregate.

At Niksic, Montenegro:

After a 1-1 regulation draw in game two, followed by 30 scoreless overtime minutes, Stefan Nikolic, Miljan Vlaisavljevic, and Vladan Bubanja converted their spot kicks as Sutjeska Niksic won the penalty-kick shootout 3-2 over visiting Slovan Bratislava.

Vlado Giljen saved two shots in the shootout for Sutjeska.

At Glasgow, Scotland:

Ryan Christie (26') and Callum McGregor (75') each scored once as Celtic blanked visiting FK Sarajevo 2-0 in game two and ousted the Bosnian club 5-2 on aggregate.

At Trondheim, Norway:

Anders Konradsen scored twice (20', 51') as Rosenborg demolished visiting Linfield 4-0 to finish off the Northern Irish club 6-0 on aggregate.

At Maribor, Slovenia:

Rok Kronaveter (11') and Marcos Tavares (32') each scored once as NK Maribor blanked visiting Valur in game two 2-0 and won their series 5-0 on aggregate.

At Riga, Latvia:

After a second regulation 0-0 stalemate, followed by 30 more minutes of goal-free soccer, Patrick Hoban, Sean Murray, Dean Jarvis, and Sean Hoare each converted a spot kick as Dundalk won a seven-round penalty-kick shootout, 4-3 on the road, over Riga.

At Gliwice, Poland:

Hervaine Moukam (PK-82') and Zakhar Volkov (87') came up with the late goals as FC BATE Borisov came from behind to upend Piast Gliwice 2-1 on the road in game two and won their series with the Polish club 3-2 on aggregate.
