At Santiago, Chile:
Xavier Baez (22') and Jonny Magallon (55') each tallied once as Chivas de Guadalajara defeated Universidad de Chile 2-0 on the road on Tuesday in match two of their two-game Copa Libertadores, enabling the Mexican club to win the series on points 4-1. The Goats advanced to the Copa Libertadores final. They will host the first game of the two-match final against the winner of the Sao Paulo-Internacional series next Tuesday at Zapopan, Mexico, with the return match to take place on August 18 at either Sao Paulo or Porto Alegre in Brazil. Should the Goats win the final, since Mexico is not a member of CONMEBOL (they belong to CONCACAF) , South America's soccer confederation, they would not be eligible for this December's FIFA Club World Cup. The winner of the all-Brazilian semifinal would represent CONMEBOL in the United Arab Emirates.
