Brent Richards scored twice in the second half (52', 61') as the Portland Timbers under-23 squad defeated the Thunder Bay Chill 4-1 on Saturday to win the Premier Development League championship. The Timbers U-23s become the first team in the league's 16-year history to go undefeated and untied winning all sixteen regular-season matches and sweeping through the playoffs. The PDL, affiliated with the United Soccer Leagues, is in the fourth level of soccer in the United States.
