CONCACAF CL: Olimpia Dominates CD FAS In San Salvador To Move To Top Of Group D

Match Day #5 in CONCACAF Champions League group stage play concluded with one Thursday contest.

CD Olimpia moved to the top of Group D with a 4-1 beatdown of hosts CD FAS, eliminating the Salvadoran club from contention in the process.  Ramiro (Don't Call Me Tedy) Bruschi scored twice (29', 45'+2) for the Honduran club.

CONCACAF CL: RSL, Cruz Azul, And Monterrey Clinch Berths In Quarterfinals; TFC, Arabe Unido, and Sounders Eliminated

Three games were played on Tuesday as Match Day #5 in CONCACAF Champions League group stage play commenced.

Group A:

At Toronto: 

Javier Morales scored the equalizer at 67 minutes as Real Salt Lake clinched a berth in the quarterfinal round with a 1-1 road draw with Toronto FC, eliminating the Reds from the tournament in the process.

At Mexico City:

Emanuel Villa's goal in the 1st minute, along with a successful penalty kick from Adrian Cortes at 48 minutes carried Cruz Azul to a 2-0 home win over Arabe Unido, clinching a berth in the quarterfinal round while eliminating the visiting Panamanian club in the process.

NOTE:  The draw assured Monterrey of finishing atop the Group C standings. 

Stanley Blow Two-Goal Advantage And Settle For Road Draw

At Stockport, England:

Thanks to goals from Tom Fisher (78') and George Donnelly (84'), Stockport County erased a two-goal deficit to gain a 2-2 home draw with Accrington Stanley in Tuesday English League Two action.  The visitors' tallied came from Andrew Proctor (40') and Terry Gornell (76'). 

Adam Virgo Penalty Kick Gains Home Draw For Yeovil Against Saints

At Yeovil, England:

Adam Virgo's successful penalty kick (65') enabled Yeovil Town to gain a 1-1 home draw with Southampton in English League One action on Tuesday.  Guilherme Do Prado provided the Saints' goal at 56 minutes. 

Blades Hold Hosts Forest To 1-1 Deadlock

At West Bridgford, England:

Christine Sinclair scored twice, Marta added a goal and had two assists, and Kandace Wilson also notched a tally as FC Gold Pride delivered a 4-0 frontier-styled fist beating to the Philadelphia Independence to win the Women's Professional Soccer championship game played on Sunday.

At San Nicolas, Mexico:

Juninho's own goal at 70 minutes allowed Chivas de Guadalajara to gain a 1-1 road draw with Tigres in Sunday action in the Mexican Premiera Division.  That tally canceled out teammate Francisco Javier Acuna Victor's goal, which was scored just before halftime (45').

MLS: Crew Erase Two-Goal Deficit To Tie Revs; Philly, Sounders, Quakes, Dynamo, Hoops All Win

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Alejandro Moreno (25'), Fred (45'), and Sebastien Le Toux (69') each scored once as the Philadelphia Union smothered visiting Chivas USA 3-0.

At Toronto:

Chris Wondolowski's hat trick (PK-2', 53', 67') made the difference as the San Jose Earthquakes held off hosts Toronto FC 3-2.

At Washington:

Geoff Cameron (69') and Dominic Oduro (90') each scored a goal as the Houston Dynamo came from behind and defeated already-eliminated DC United 3-1 on the road.

At Foxborough, Massachusetts:

Guillermo Barros Schelotto's penalty kick at 77 minutes, coupled with Cory Gibbs' own goal (61') to carry the Columbus Crew from a two-goal deficit and gain a 2-2 road draw with the New England Revolution.  Pat Phelan (1') and  Shalrie Joseph (PK-55') scored for the Revs.
