MLS: Saturday Wins For Fire, Red Bulls, Dynamo, Quakes Win On Three-Draw Saturday

Seven games were contested in Major League Soccer on Saturday.

At Bridgeview, Illinois:

Nemanja Nikolic (11') and Arturo Alvarez (15') each scored a goal in the opening quarter-hour to help guide the Chicago Fire to a 2-0 home blanking of Real Salt Lake.

At Harrison, New Jersey:

Eric Miller's own goal in the 45th minute proved costly as the New York Red Bulls knocked off the visiting Colorado Rapids 1-0. Goalkeeper, Luis Robles, in his 142nd consecutive start, which set a new MLS record, delivered the shutout for the Red Bulls.

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Jay Simpson (11') and C. J. Sapong (73') each scored a goal as the Philadelphia Union were able to salvage a 2-2 home draw with Toronto FC.  Jozy Altidore (PK-45'+2) and Justin Morrow (71') produced the Reds' goals.

At Montreal:

Nicloas Lodeiro (PK-83') and Will Bruin (90'+4) delivered the goals that enabled the Seattle Sounders to bounce back from a 2-0 deficit and gain a 2-2 road deadlock with the Montreal Impact.  Ignacio Piatti had a hand in both Montreal scores, assisting on Matteo Mancosu's tally in the 17th minute and scoring one of his own in the 51st.

At Houston:

Romell Quioto (2'), Alberth Elis (35'), and Erick Cubo Torres (65') each scored once as the Houston Dynamo downed the visiting Columbus Crew 3-1.

At Kansas City, Kansas:

Sporting Kansas City and visiting FC Dallas battled to a 0-0 stalemate.

At San Jose, California:

Chris Wondolowski (32'), Nick Lima (54'), and Anibal Godoy (79') each scored a goal as the San Jose Earthquakes came back from a two-goal deficit to upend the visiting (and ten-man) Vancouver Whitecaps 3-2.
