OFC Champions League: Auckland City Advance To Semifinals

Four games were played on Tuesday and Wednesday in OFC Champions League group-stage action.

GROUP D:

Two Tuesday games were contested at Pater Stadium in Pirae, Tahiti.

In the opener, Tony Kaltack scored twice (38', 85') as Erakor Golden Star (Vanuatu) defeated Marist Fire 2-1.  Despite the victory, the club from Vanuatu was still eliminated from contention.

In the nightcap, AS Tefana, from the host country, with goals courtesy of Stanley Atani (45') and Viritua Tiaiho (76'), knocked Fiji's Rewa out of the tournament 2-0.

Group D Standings:

GROUP C:

Two Wednesday games were contested at Centre Park in Auckland, New Zealand.

In the opener, Henry Fa'arodo's successful penalty kick provided the game-winning goal in the 75th minute lifted Western United (Solomon Islands) to a 2-1 victory over
Vanuatu's Malampa Revivors.


In the nightcap, Clayton Lewis scored twice (44', 61') as Auckland City locked up the Group C title and a berth in the semifinal round by blanking Papua New Guinea's Lae City Dwellers 2-0.
