Costa Rica Advances To Final 8 With Draw Against Canada; El Salvador Eliminated

Group A play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup concluded on Friday with a doubleheader at Miami.

In the opener, Andy Herron (23') and Walter Centeno (35') each tallied once as Costa Rica gained a 2-2 deadlock with Canada to lock up a berth in the quarterfinal round. Patrice Bernier (25') and Marcel de Jong (28') each tallied for the Canadians who clinched the Group A crown.

In the nightcap, Omar Cummings scored the only goal of the match (70') as Jamaica eliminated El Salvador from the tournament with a 1-0 victory. The Reggae Boyz still have a shot of advancing if they wind up with one of the two best third-place records.
