The opening games of five two-game sets in the second round of qualifying for the 2009-10 UEFA Champions League were contested on Tuesday.
At Skopje, Macedonia:
Sergei Krivets (40') and Maksim Shavysh (50') each scored once as FC BATE Borisov began their quest for a return trip to the group stage with a 2-0 game one road win over FK Makedonija Skopje.
At Yerevan, Armenia:
Homestanding Pyunik held Dinamo Zagreb to a 0-0 stalemate in game one.
At Torshavn, Faroe Islands:
Thanks to goals from Nenad Mirosavljevic (10') and Marcin Zewlakow (77'), APOEL defeated EB/Streymur 2-0 on the road in the series opener.
At Panevezys, Lithuania:
Felix Felipe Almeida (78') and William Rocha Batista (90'+2) provided the late goalpower as FK Baki gained a 2-2 road draw with Ekranas (whose goals came from Deimantas Bicka [PK-53'] and Valdas Trakys [90'+3]).
At Rhyl, Wales:
Partizan Belgrade, aided by goals from Mladen Krstajic (17'), Cleverson (18'), Lamine Diarra (45'+1) and Nenad Djordjevic (69'), pulverized Rhyl FC 4-0 on the road in the series curtain-raiser.
