Europa League Qualifying, Second Round: Busy Thursday

The opening matches in the remaining 38 two-game series in the second round of qualifying for the Europa League commenced on Thursday.

At Zestaponi, Georgia:

Rasmus Jonsson (62') and Hammerin' Henrik Larsson (89') provided the away goals as Helsingborgs IF got the measure of Zestaponi 2-1 on the road in game one of their two-match set.

At Vitebsk, Belarus:

Aleksandr Degterev's double (21', 66') paced Naftan to a 2-1 game one home win over AA Gent. the Belgian club got an away goal in the 90th minute from Milos Maric.

At Kumanovo, Macedonia:

Aljosa Vojnovic's hat trick (39', 41', 44') capped a first-half scoring barrage as Slaven Koprivnica clubbed Milano 4-0 on the road in game one, all but assuring the Croatian club a spot in the third qualifying round.

At Zilina, Slovakia:

Tomas Oravec (57') and Ivan Lietava (77') provided the goals in game one as MSK Zilina took the series opener at home, 2-0, over Dacia Chisinau.

At Vlora, Albania:

Emir Strati scored the only goal of the match (66') as Flamurtari took game one at home over Motherwell FC 1-0.

At Liepaja, Latvia:

Girts Karlsons (41') and Intars Kirhners (54') provided the goal scoring as Liepajas Metalurgs took the opening match of the series 2-1 at home over Dinamo Tbilisi. The Georgian club still has hope in this series as Levan Khmaladze scored what might end up as a prescious away goal at 68 minutes.

At Espoo, Finland:

Honka, thanks to tallies from Joel Perovuo (15') and Rasmus Schuller (74'), blanked visiting Bangor City FC 2-0 in game one.

At Donetsk, Ukraine:

Musawengosi Mguni (34'), Henrik Mkhitaryan (42'), and Olexiy Godin (66') each scored once as FC Metallurg Donetsk dominated visiting MTZ-RIPO 3-0 in the series opener.

At Kostany, Kazakhstan:

Milan Baros scored an important road goal at 58 minutes as Galatasaray gained a 1-1 road draw in game one with Tobol, who were represented on the scoreboard by Nurbol Zhumaskaliyev in the 2nd minute.

At Riga, Latvia:

Thomas McManus' equalizer at 44 minutes enabled Derry City FC to gain a 1-1 road draw in game one with Skonto.

At Vilnius, Lithuania:

Dawda Bah scored only goal of the match (15') as HJK Helsinki took game one 1-0 on the road at Vetra's expense.

At Tel Aviv, Israel:

Pedro Joaquin Galvan (25'), Din Mori (38'), Elran Atar (67'), and Liroy Zhairi (90'+3) each scored a goal as Bnei Yehuda pistolwhipped visiting Dinaburg 4-0 in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Boras, Sweden:

Elfsborg broke open a scoreless deadlock with second-half goals from Anders Svensson (60'), Stefan Ishizaki (82'), and Denni Avdic (89') as they smothered visiting Haladas FC 3-0 in game one.

At Olomouc, Czech Republic:

Daniel Rossi Silva's equalizer at 89 minutes enabled Sigma to salvage a 1-1 home stalemate in game one with Fram, who got an away goal at 21 minutes from Jon Gundi Fjoluson.

At Marijampole, Lithuania:

Mikkel Beckmann scored the only goal of the match at 23 minutes as Randers FC defeated Suduva 1-0 on the road in game one of their two-match set.

At Larnaca, Cyprus:

Anorthosis Famagusta FC took the series opener at home, 2-1, over FK Petrovac. Ricardo Fernandes (11') and Vincent Laban (14') scored early first-half goal for the hosts, while the visiting club from Montenegro got what might still be an all-important road goal at 84 minutes from Milos Lakic.

At Burgas, Bulgaria:

Cherno More, thanks to Miroslav Manolov's goal at 44 minutes, topped visiting Iskra-Stali 1-0 in game one.

At Vienna, Austria:

Nikica Jelavic's double (68', 73') helped Rapid Vienna crush visiting Vllaznia 5-0 in game one as the club from Austrian capital all but locked up a spot in the third qualifying round.

At Graz, Austria:

Mario Haas (12') and Andreas Holzl (38') scored once apiece as SK Sturm Graz took game one 2-1 at home over Siroki Brijeg. The visiting Bosnian club still has a chance in this two-game set, as they got an away goal at 67 minutes from Mario Ljubic.

At Nicosia, Cyprus:

Omonia, with tallies from Christos Karipidis (3'), Christos Patsatzoglou (11'), Maciej Zurawski (33'), and Georgios Efrem (85'), delivered a frontier-styled, game-one fistbeating at home, to HB Torshavn in game one.

At Bucharest, Romania:

Steaua Bucharest took game one 2-0 at home over Ujpest. Romeo Sudru (46') and Bogdan Stancu (72') each scored once for the Romanian club.

At Basel, Switzerland:

Serkhan Sahin (23'), Marco Streller (48'), and Federico Almerares (59') provided the goalpower as FC Basel 1893 dominated FC Santa Coloma 3-0 in game one at home.

At Warsaw, Poland:

Legia Warsaw got their two-match set on the right foot as they overpowered visiting FC Olimpi Rustavi 3-0. Adrian Paluchowski (19'), Tomasz Kielbowicz (70'), and Sebastian Szalachowski (83') each scored once for the Polish club.

At Nova Gorica, Slovenia:

Admir Krsic provided all the goalpower (39') as ND Gorica took game one at home, 1-0, over FC Lahti.

At Luxembourg City, Luxembourg:

FC Differdange 03 took game one at home, 1-0, over Rijeka, as Pierre Olivier Piskor scored the game's lone goal at 61 minutes.

At Velenje, Slovenia:

Slavko Perovic scored the game's lone goal (59') as Red Star Belgrade took the series opener on the road, 1-0 over Rudar Velenje.

At Brondby, Denmark:

Tonis Vanna scored the only goal of the match (50') as FC Flora took game one over Brondby 1-0 on the road.

At Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina:

Milan Muminovic scored at 14 minutes for game one's lone tally as FK Sarajevo took the series opener over visiting Spartak Trnava 1-0.

At Montecchio, San Marino:

Daniel Kokosinski's goal at 2 minutes held up as Polonia Warsaw took match one on the road over Juvenes/Dogana 1-0.

At Falkirk, Scotland:

Ryan Flynn's goal at 50 minutes provided all the scoring as Falkirk FC downed visiting FC Vaduz 1-0 in match one.

At Breda, Netherlands:

Edwin de Graaf (55', 70') and Matthew Amoah (57', 61') each doubled in the second half as NAC Breda demolished visiting Gandzasar 6-0 in game one of their two-legged series.

At Reykjavik, Iceland:

Baldur Sigurdsson (55') and Bjorgolfur Takefusa (90'+3) each contributed a score as KR Reyjkavik blanked visiting Larissa 2-0 in the series opener.

At Dublin, Ireland:

Gilbert Agius' 65th-minute equalizer enabled Valletta to gain a 1-1 draw on the road in game one with St. Patrick's Athletic. The hosts got a goal at 38 minutes from Declan O'Brien.

The following five contests ended in 0-0 stalemates.
