Europa League: First Qualifying Round Concludes

The first qualifying round of the 2009-10 UEFA Europa League concluded Thursday.

At Kokshetau, Kazakhstan:

Despite losing their series opener last week at home, goals from Oleg Andronic (16') and Gheorghe Andronic (19') lifted Zimbru to a 2-0 road win in game two, enabling the Moldovan club to take the series against Okzhetpes 3-2 on aggregate.

At Karagandy, Kazakhstan:

Despite dropping game two on the road 2-1 to Irtysh (Igor Yurin scoring both the hosts goals at 19 and 34 minutes), Haladas still won the series on away goals as each team scored twice over the two games. The Hungarian club's Krisztian Kenesei scored what proved to be the most important goal, the series' only road goal at 23 minutes.

At Yerevan, Armenia:

A 1-1 road draw in match two against MIKA was good enough for Helsingborgs IF as the Swedish club took the two-game set 4-2 on aggregate. Rene Makondele scored for the guests at 68 minutes.

At Zestaponi, Georgia:

Jaba Dvali's hat trick (5' , 39', 42') and Nickoloz Gelashvili's double (87', 90') helped Zestafoni annihilate visiting Lisburn Distillery 6-0 in game two and finish a two-game nuking of their opponents from Northern Ireland 11-1 on aggregate.

At Baku, Azerbaijan:

Goals courtesy of Igor Sukennik (34'), Vladimir Kozuch (40'), and Roman Prochazka (48') lifted Spartak Trnava to a 3-1 road win over Inter Baku in game two and a 5-2 aggregate series win.

At Skopje, Macedonia:

Sergei Kislyak's successful penalty kick at 38 minutes enabled Dinamo Minsk to gain a 1-1 road draw with Renova in game two and a 3-2 series win on aggregate.

At Minsk, Belarus:

Nikolai Ryndyuk scored twice on Thursday, at 67 minutes of the second game to force overtime, and then the series winner at 21 minutes into overtime as MTZ-RIPO, after deadlocking game two at home with Sutjeska to force the additional thirty minutes, won the series 3-2 on aggregate.

At Torshavn, Faroe Islands:

Irakli Sirbiladze (5') and Gela Khubua (28') each tallied once as Olimpi handed B36 Torshavn a second successive 2-0 setback, this time on the road in game two, to win their two-set match 4-0 on aggregate.

At Ta'Qali, Malta:

A scoreless draw on the road in game two against Birkirkara was good enough for Slaven Koprivnica to win their two-game series 1-0 on aggregate.

At Tel Aviv, Israel:

Pedro Joaquin Galvan's double (27', 66') was more than good enough as Bnei Yehuda dominated visiting Simurq 3-0 in game two and won their series 4-0 on aggregate.

At Tirana, Albania:

Despite being blanked on the road in game two by Dinamo Tirana (Papa Diop scored both goals at 13 and 70 minutes), Lahti still advanced as they won their two-game set on aggregate 4-3.

At Tallinn, Estonia:

A 0-0 stalemate in game two on the road was good enough for Dinaburg, as the Latvian club won the series 1-0 on aggregate.

At Luxembourg City, Luxembourg:

Goals from Lukasz Sosin (44') and Nikolaos Frousos (60') lifted Anorthosis Famagusta FC to a 2-1 road win in game two versus Kaerjeng as the Cypriot club easily won their two-match set 7-1 on aggregate.

At Keflavik, Iceland:

Goals from Dyson Falzon (41') and Njongo Priso (82') enabled visiting Valletta to gain a 2-2 road draw in game two with Keflavik, more than good enough for the Maltese club to win their two-match series 5-2 on aggregate.

At Lurgan, Northern Ireland:

Randers FC, with goals from Ricki Olsen (21'), Kasper Lorentzen (51') and Soren Berg (82'), concluded their dominting performance against Linfield FC in the first qualifying round as the Danish club took game two 3-0 on the road, and the series on aggregate 7-0.

At Llanelli, Wales:

Motherwell FC overturned their game one home defeat with a dominating performance in game two as John Sutton doubled (8', 25') and Jamie Murphy added one at 72 minutes for good measure as the Scotish club took game two 3-0 on the road and overtook Llanelli FC 3-1 on aggregate for the series.

At Warsaw, Poland:

Despite losing game two 1-0 at home to Buducnost Podgorica, Polonia Warsaw still took their two-match set with their Montenegrin rivals 2-1 on aggregate.

At Trondheim, Norway:

With goals from Steffan Iversen (39'), Didier Konan Ya (PK-90'+2), and Trond Olsen (90'+3), Rosenborg BK took game two with NSI 3-1 at home and carried the two-match set on aggregate, 6-1.

At Velenje, Slovenia:

Fabijan Cipot doubled (28', 73') as Rudar Velenje defeated visiting Trans 3-1 in game two at home and took the two-match series 6-1 on aggregate.

At Siroki Brijeg, Bosnia-Herzegovina:

Despite losing game two at home 1-0 to Banants, Siroki Brijeg still won their two-game series 2-1 on aggregate.

At Shropshire, Wales:

Almar Ormarsson (16') and Samuel Tillen (PK-66') as Fram registered a second straight 2-1 win over The New Saints, this time on the road in game two as the Icelandic club finished off TNS 4-2 on aggregate.

At Vilnius, Lithuania:

Goals from Tadas Kijanskas (33') and Robertas Vezevicius (37') helped Vetra register a second successive 3-0 belting of Grevenmacher, this time in game two at home, as the Lithuanian club took their two-match set with their opponents from Luxembourg 6-0 on aggregate.

At Shkoder, Albania:

Ndricim Shtubina's goal at 42 minutes enabled Vllaznia to gain a 1-1 game two home draw with Sligo Rovers FC and win their two-match set 3-2 on aggregate.
