Laszlo Kleinheiser scored twice (31', 90'+4) as Astana defeated visiting FC Nordjaelland 2-1 in the opening game of their two-match series.
At Cluj-Napoca, Romania:
Sergio Strandberg scored the only goal of the match at 45 minutes as Malmo FF knocked off CFR Cluj 1-0 on the road in their series-opening contest.
At Zagreb, Croatia:
Arijan Ademi scored twice (51', 62') as Dinamo Croatia whacked visiting Hapoel Be'er Sheva 5-0 in the opening contest of their series.
At Belgrade, Serbia:
Nemanja Radonjic scored twice (35', 68') as Red Star Belgrade dominated visiting Suduva Marijampole 3-0 in game one.
At Skopje, Macedonia:
Besart Ibraimi scored the only goal of Shkendija's series-opening 1-0 victory over visiting FC Sheriff.
At Warsaw, Poland:
Erik Grendel (16') and Jan Vlasko (90'+3) each scored once as FC Spartak Trnava knocked off Legia Warsaw 2-0 on the road in their series-opening match.
LEAGUE PATH:
At Thessaloniki, Greece:
Jose Alberto Canas (32') and Aleksandar Prijovic (80') produced the goals that carried PAOK FC to a series-opening 2-1 home victory over FC Basel.
Albian Ajeti's goal in the 82nd minute kept the Swiss club in the series.
