Boca And Defensor Sporting Draw In Series Opener; Cruzeiro And Estudiantes Advance To Elite Eight

Two two-match sets from the Copa Libertadores first knockout round concluded Thursday.

At Belo Horizonte, Brazil:

Kleber scored the only goal of the match (74') as Gremio took game two of their two-game set 1-0 at home over Universidad de Chile and won the series easily on aggregate 3-1, 6-0 on points.

At Asuncion, Paraguay:

Visiting Estudiantes held hosts Club Libertad to a 0-0 draw in game two and won the two-match set 3-0 on aggregate, 4-1 on points.

Meanwhile,

At Montevideo, Uruguay:

Pablo Gaglianone (45') and Rodrigo Mora (85') each scored once for Defensor Sporting as they salvaged a 2-2 home draw with Boca Juniors in the opening match of their two-game round-of-16 set. Martin Palermo (5') and Rodrigo Palocio (57') each scored once for the Argentinian giants.
