Kevin Harmse scored the game's only goal (3') as Toronto FC (MLS) defeated the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps (USL-1) 1-0 in the opening match of the Canadian Championship tournament.
The winner of this tournament (which also includes the USL-1's Montreal Impact) would represent Canada in the preliminary round of the 2009-10 CONCACAF Champions League.
