At Cairo, Egypt:
Two second-half goals enabled guests Kano Pillars FC to gain a 2-2 road draw with defending champs Al-Ahly in game two of their two-match set and win the series on the away goals rule (the overall score for the two matches was deadlocked 3-3 on aggregate).
At Ndola, Zambia:
ZESCO United doubled visiting Djoliba AC 2-1 in game two of their two legged set and won their way to the group stage 2-1 on aggregate. Lottie Phiri and Enoch Sakala each tallying once for the Zambian club.
At Omdurman, Sudan:
Endurance Idahor's 62nd-minute goal lifed Al-Merreikh to a 1-1 home draw in game two against Kampala City Council, enabling the Sudanese club to win their two-match set, 2-1 on aggregate.
At Garoua, Cameroon:
Heartland FC, with Ike Thankgod scoring at 42 minutes, gained a 1-1 road draw in game two with Cotonsport, eliminating last year's runners up 3-2 on aggregate.
At Khemisset, Morocco:
A 0-0 game-two draw on the road with Ittihad Khemisset enabled TP Mazembe to win their two-match set 1-0 on aggregate.
At Sousse, Tunisia:
After a scoreless first match in Libya two weeks ago, Etoile Sportive du Sahel , with scoring from Sadat Bukari (16') and Ammar Jemal (44'), blanked visiting Al Ahly Tripoli 2-0 in game two to advance to the group stage.
