Iron Win Long Shootout To Advance To Final

Friday marked the conclusion of the semifinal phase of England's League One promotion playoffs.

At Milton Keynes:

With the opening match deadlocked at 1-1, with no away goals rule, and after a scoreless 90 minutes in game two, and two scoreless overtime periods, Scunthorpe United, with successful penalty kicks from Grant McCann, Paul Hayes, Andy Crosby, Liam Trotter, Jonathan Forte, Sam Togwell, and Ian Morris, won the penalty kick shootout against hosts MK Downs 7-6, in nine rounds. The Dons' Tore Andre Flo's penalty kick, which would have sent the shootout to a tenth round, hit the crossbar. The Iron will face Millwall in the promotion playoff final on May 24 at London's Wembley Stadium, with the winner gaining promotion to the League Championship.
