At Recife, Brazil:
After Wilson scored at 82 minutes to enable Sport Recife to take game two of their two-match set at home 1-0, thus deadlocking the series 1-1 on aggregate , visiting Palmeiras won the penalty kick shootout 3-1 (with Marcao, Danilo, and Pablo Armero each converting, and with no overtime periods ) to advance to the quarterfinals.
At Caracas, Venezuela:
Goals courtesy of Dario Damian Figueroa (PK-22), Rodrigo Prieto (42'), Emilio Renteria (51'), and Jose Manuel Rey (74'), Caracas FC smashed visiting Club Deportivo Cuenca 4-0 in game two of their two-match set to win the series 5-2 on aggregate.
