Copa Libertadores

The final week of group-stage play in the Copa Libertadores  commenced on Tuesday with four games.

GROUP A:

At Buenos Aires:

In a battle of two clubs that had already locked up berths in the knockout stage, Rafael Sobis scored twice (43', PK-58') as Internacional gained a 2-2 road draw with River Plate to lock up top spot in Group A.

Julian Alvarez (34') and Lucas Pratto (90'+3) each scored once for the hosts.

At Lima, Peru:

Renato Tarifeno scored twice (36', 53') as Palestino locked up a berth in the second stage of the Copa Sudamerica (you might call it the Europa League of South America) by defeating Alianza Lima 2-1 on the road.

Final Group A Standings:

1. Internacional (GP: 6; GD: +5; PTS: 14)
2. River Plate (GP: 6; GD: +5; PTS: 10)

GROUP E:

At Montevideo, Uruguay:

Rodrigo Amaral scored for the hosts in the 58th minute as both clubs had already locked up knockout-stage berths.

At Barinas, Venezuela:

Alerrandro scored twice (24', 35') as Atletico Mineiro locked up a berth in the second stage of the Copa Sudamericana by defeating Zamora FC 2-1 on the road.
