In Wednesday's finale of the CONCACAF Champions League, Nicolas Sanchez successfully converted his penalty kick in the 25th minute as Monterrey gained a 1-1 game-two home draw with local rivals Tigres, enabling the Striped Gang to win the championship 2-1 on aggregate, earning them their fourth continental club title.
This marked the 14th successive season that the CONCACAF club champions are from Mexico.
