MLS: Caps, Timbers, Red Bulls, Loons, Rapids Grab Saturday Wins

Seven games were contested in Major League Soccer on Saturday.

At Bridgeview, Illinois:

Alexandru Mitrita's equalizer in the 40th minute lifted New York City to a 1-1 road draw with the Chicago Fire.

C.J. Sapong scored for the hosts at 28 minutes.

At Vancouver, British Columbia:

Ali Adnan (30') and Lucas Venuto (40') each scored once as the Vancouver Whitecaps knocked off visiting FC Dallas 2-1.

At Foxborough, Massachusetts:

Wayne Rooney's successful penalty kick in the 90th minute carried DC United to a 1-1 road draw with New England.

Juan Agudelo scored for the Revolution in the 61st minute.

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Brian Fernandez scored twice (31', 36') and Diego Valeri once (87') as the Portland Timbers closed out their 12-match season-opening road trip with a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union.

At Cincinnati:

Kaku (78') and Omir Fernandez (90'+1) each scored once late as the New York Red Bulls blanked FC Cincinnati 2-0 on the road.

At St. Paul, Minnesota:

Romaine Metanire delivered all the scoring with his 20th-minute tally as Minnesota United knocked off the visiting Houston Dynamo 1-0.

At Commerce City, Colorado:

Nicolas Mezquida scored the game winner at 89 minutes as the Colorado Rapids upended the visiting Columbus Crew 3-2.
