US Open Cup

The US Open Cup's first round concluded on Wednesday with nine games.

At Erie, Pennsylvania:

Tate Robertson Keir scored the winning goal in the 73rd minute as the Dayton Dutch Lions (USL League 2) upended the Erie Commodores (NPSL) 2-1 on the road.

At Lansing, Michigan:

Elma N'For scored twice (29', 72') as the Lansing Ignite (USL League 1) held off visiting AFC Ann Arbor (NPSL) 2-1.

At Reading, Pennsylvania:

Jeremy Rafanello scored twice (18', PK-21') as Reading United AC (USL League 2) held off visiting (and ten-man) Philadelphia Lone Star FC (NPSL) 2-1.

At Manhattan, New York:

Bljedi Bardic scored the game-winning stoppage-time goal (90'+6) as New York Cosmos B (NPSL) defeated visiting Black Rock FC (USL League 2) 2-1.

At Greenville, South Carolina:

Cole Seiler scored the only goal of the match in the 75th minute as the Georgia Triumph knocked off the visiting South Georgia Tormenta 1-0 in a battle of USL League 1 clubs.

At Miami Shores, Florida:

Daniel Meneses scored the winning goal in the 87th minute as the Florida Soccer Soldiers, local qualifiers from the fifth-level USASA knocked off the NPSL's Miami FC 2-1 on the road.

At Little Rock, Arkansas:

After a 2-2 deadlock following 120 minutes of play, Christian Okeke, Lucio Martinez, Michael Jones, and Mariano Fazio converted their spot kicks as the visiting NTX Rayados, another local qualifying club from the USASA, upended the NPSL's Little Rock Rangers 4-2 in the penalty-kick shootout.

At Des Moines, Iowa:

After another deadlock after 120 minutes, this time with the score at 1-1, Oquin Robinson, Rory O'Keeffe, and Marek Weber converted their spot kicks as the Des Moines Menace (USL League 2) took the penalty-kick shootout from visiting Duluth FC (NPSL) 3-1.

At Midland, Texas:

Kyle Crouse scored the game winner in the 89th minute as FC Denver, the tournament's lone representative from the United States Specialty Sports Association, which like the USASA, is in the fifth level of American soccer, knocked off NPSL's Midland-Odessa Sockers 2-1 on the road.
