MLS Soccer: Five Stripes, Sounders Gain Wednesday Wins

Four games were contested on Wednesday in Major League Soccer.

At Toronto:

Toronto FC and visiting DC United battled to a 0-0 stalemate.

At Houston:

Brian Fernandez scored his first MLS career goal in the 77th minute to carry the Portland Timbers to a 1-1 road draw with the Houston Dynamo.

Mauro Manotas scored for the hosts in the 40th minute.

At Vancouver, British Columbia:

Josef Martinez converted his penalty kick in the 29th minute for the game's lone goal as Atlanta United picked up their fifth consecutive victory, 1-0 on the road over the Vancouver Whitecaps.

At Seattle:

Handwalla Bwana scored the winning goal in the 68th minute as the Seattle Sounders defeated visiting Orlando City 2-1.
