African Nations Cup: Nigeria, Egypt Advance To Knockout Stage; Uganda and Zimbabwe Draw

Three games were contested in Egypt on Wednesday as the second cycle of group-stage matches in the African Nations Cup commenced.

GROUP A, with both games played at Cairo International Stadium in Cairo:

Game One:

Khama Billiat's equalizer in the 40th minute lifted Zimbabwe to a 1-1 draw with Uganda.

Emmanuel Okwi scored for the Cranes in the 12th minute.

Game Two:

Ahmed Mohamady (25') and Mohamed Salah (43') each scored once as host nation Egypt blanked the Democratic Republic of the Congo 2-0 to advance to the knockout stage. 

Group A Standings:

2.    Uganda (GP: 3; GD: +3; PTS: 4)
3.    Zimbabwe (GP: 3; GD: -1; PTS: 1)

GROUP B:

At Alexandria:

Kenneth Omeruo scored the game's lone goal in the 73rd minute as Nigeria defeated Guinea 1-0 to lock up a berth in the knockout stage.
