FIFA Women's World Cup: Italy, England Advance To Knockout Stage

Group-stage play in the FIFA Women's World Cup continued on Friday in France with three games.

At Reims:


A hat trick from Cristiana Girelli (PK-12', 25', 46') propelled Italy to a 5-0 fist-beating of Jamaica which carried them into the knockout stage.

Yuika Sugasawa's successful penalty kick in the 37th minute produced the game-winning goal as Japan defeated Scotland 2-1.

At Le Harve:

Jodie Lee Taylor scored the only goal of the match in the 62nd minute as England salted away a berth in the knockout stage after defeating Argentina 1-0.
