Wu Lei scored twice (62', 65') as Shanghai SIPG demolished visiting Guangzhou Evergrande 4-0 in the opening match of a two-game all-Chinese series.
West Region:
At Oman, Qatar (played in Qatar due to deteriorating relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia):
Shojae Khalilzadeh (72') and Godwin Mensha (84') each scored once as Iran's Persepolis erased a two-goal deficit to salvage a series-opening 2-2 deadlock with Al-Ahli Saudi FC. Omar Al Somah (2') and Leonardo da Silva Souza (58') each scored once for the Saudi club.
