MLS: Reds, Quakes Grab Sunday Road Wins; Timbers Gain Cascadia Cup Road Draw With Sounders In Seattle

Three nationally-televised Major League Soccer contests were played on Sunday.

At Montreal:

Sebastian Giovinco scored twice (41', 90'+3) and Jozy Altidore once (52') as Toronto FC tightened their hold on first place in both the Eastern Conference standings and the Supporters' Shield race following their 3-1 road victory over the Montreal Impact.

At Carson, California:

Valeri Vako Qazaishvili (45'+3), Marco Urena (80'), and Chris Wondolowski (90'+2) each scored once as the San Jose Earthquakes dominated the ten-man Los Angeles Galaxy 3-0 on the road in the latest edition of the California Clasico.  The defeat stretched the Galaxy's winless streak to ten games (nine losses and one draw).


At Seattle:

Diego Valeri's successfully-executed penalty kick in the second minute of first-half stoppage time lifted the Portland Timbers to a 1-1 Cascadia Cup road draw with the Seattle Sounders.  Cristian Roldan scored in the 18th minute for the Sounders, who stretched their unbeaten streak to eleven games.
