Pedro Rocha scored twice (29', 59') as Gremio defeated visiting Godoy Cruz 2-1 in game two and won their two-match series with the Argentinian club 3-1 on aggregate.
At Sao Paulo, Brazil:
After Palmeiras topped visiting Barcelona SC 1-0 in regulation time of game two to square their series at 1-1 on aggregate, and with overtime dispensed with, Jonathan Alvez, Matias Oyola, Segundo Castillo, Marcos Caicedo, and Jose Ayovi each converted a spot kick as the visiting Ecuadoran club won the penalty-kick shootout 5-4 to advance to the quarterfinal round.
At Belo Horizonte, Brazil:
A 0-0 game-two home stalemate enabled Atletico Mineiro to oust Bolivia's Jorge Wilstermann 1-0 on aggregate.
