CONCACAF League: Plaza Amador, Chorrillo Advance To Quarterfinals

The opening round of the inaugural CONCACAF League continued on Wednesday with two games.

At Panama City, Panama:

After Plaza Amador bested visiting Portmore United from Jamaica 1-0 in regulation in game two and squared their two-match series at 1-1 on aggregate, and with overtime dispensed with, Eric Hughes, Ernesto Sinclair, Jose Murillo, Algish Dixon, and Valentin Pimentel (whose goal in the 75th minute of regulation made the shootout possible) all converted their spot kicks as the Panamanian club took the penalty-kick shootout 5-4 to advance to the quarterfinal round.

At San Pedro Sula, Honduras:

Alfredo Stephens scored the only goal of the match in the 61st minute as Chorrillo FC posted a second 1-0 victory over Honduras Progreso (who ended the game with ten men), this time on the road, and ousted the Honduran club 2-0 on aggregate.
