The playoff round for UEFA Champions League group-stage berth commenced on Tuesday with five games.

At Baku, Azerbaijan:

Mahir Madatov scored the only goal of the match in the 25th minute to power Qarabag to a series-opening 1-0 home victory over FC Copenhagen.

At Nicosia, Cyprus:

Igor de Camargo (2') and Efstathios Aloneftis (10') each scored once in the first ten minutes as APOEL FC blanked visiting Slavia Prague 2-0 in the opening match of their two-game series.


League Route:

At Bern, Switzerland:

Kasim Nuhu's own goal in the opening minute of second-half stoppage time proved decisive as CSKA Moscow knocked off BSC Young Boys 1-0 in the opening contest of their series.

At Sinsheim, Germany:

Trent Alexander-Arnold (35') and Havard Nordtveit (OG-74') provided the scoring as Liverpool downed TSG 1899 Hoffenheim 2-1 on the road in their series-opening contest.

At Lisbon, Portugal:

Sporting CP and guests Steaua Bucharest battled to a series-opening 0-0 stalemate.
