At Portsmouth:
Rio Ferdinand's own goal at 89 minutes sealed Manchester United's fate at Portsmouth held on for a 2-1 home win as the Red Devils' lead over Chelsea atop the EPL standings was cut in half to three points.
At London:
Bobby Zamora's score (45') was the difference as West Ham United climbed to within two points of safety with their 1-0 road win over Arsenal, as the Gunners suffered their first league home defeat of the season.
At Reading:
Dirk Kuyt's game winner (86') enabled Liverpool to tighten their hold on third place as the Reds picked up a 2-1 road win over Reading.
At Sheffield:
Steven Taylor scored the winning goal at 80 minutes as Newcastle United defeated Sheffield United 2-1 on the road. The loss kept the Blades in the relegation zone, which they had fallen into following Charlton Athletic's draw with Manchester City the previous day.
At Blackburn:
Gabriel Agbonlahor's goal at 73 minutes lifted Aston Villa to a 2-1 road win over Blackburn.
At Wigan:
Andranik Teymourian's double (68', 73') lifted Bolton to fifth place, within two points of slumping Arsenal (and a Champions League qualifying berth) as the Trotters defeated homestanding Wigan Athletic (who now find themselves only two points above the drop zone) 3-1.
At Middlesbrough:
Mark Viduka's double (5', 75') helped Middlesbrough manhandle bottom club (and increasingly likely League Championship club) Watford at home 4-1.
