FC Sevilla blew a chance to take over the lead in the La Liga standings by being held to a 0-0 draw at home by Racing Santander.
At Villarreal:
Fabriano Eller's goal at 32 minutes was the only score of Atletico Madrid's 1-0 road win over Villarreal. The winner lifted the guests up to sixth place in the La Liga standings, three points out of a Champions League qualifying berth.
At Huelva:
Laurentiu Rosu's double (85', 88') helped lift Recreativo Huelva to a 4-2 home doubling of relegation-threatened Celta Vigo.
At La Coruna:
Iago Iglesias' tally at 58 minutes provided all the scoring as Deportivo La Coruna pushed cellar-dwelling Gimnastic de Tarragona closer to the second division with their 1-0 home win.
At Mallorca:
RCD Mallorca got goals courtesy of Jose Carlos Nunes (64') and Oscar Trejo (90') in their 2-0 home win over Getafe.
At Barcelona:
Espanyol ended a four-game winless streak as they defeated relegation-threatened Real Sociedad at home 1-0. Ferran Coro scored the game's lone goal at 58 minutes.
At Valencia:
Robert De Pinho's equalizer lifted Real Betis to a 1-1 road deadlock with Levante.
