Wolves (AS Roma, NOT Wolverhampton) Take Opener From Red Devils; Valencia and Chelsea Draw

Two more quarterfinal-round series in the UEFA Champions League began on Wednesday:

At Rome:

Goals from Rodrigo Taddei (44') and sub Mirko Vucinic (66') powered AS Roma to a 2-1 home win in game one of their two-game, total-goals series over 10-man Manchester United. Wayne Rooney, at 60 minutes, provided the Red Devils with an important away goal. Pictured here are Giollorossi players celebrating Mirko's game winner. Photo © AFP

At London:

Visiting Valencia and Chelsea battled to a series-opening 1-1 deadlock. David Silva put the visitors ahead in the 30th minutes by scoring a priceless away goal (he, on the left, is pictured celebrating with David Villa (Photo © Getty Images). The Blues' scoring machine Didier Drogba equalized at 53 minutes.
