Galaticos Climb To Second; Real Sociedad Knocks Off Atletico

At Madrid:

Ruud van Nistelrooy (18') and Sergio Ramos (73') provided the goals that lifted Real Madrid to a2-1 home win over Valencia---and into second place in the La Liga standings.

At San Sebastian:

Atletico Madrid blew a shot to draw closer to a Champions League berth as Real Sociedad, in their fight to escape the relegation zone, moved to within three points of safety with their 2-0 win over their guests from the Spanish captial. Darko Kovacevic (7') and Savio (84') each tallied once for the Royal Society Football Club of San Sebastian.
