The CONCACAF League's opening round continued on Wednesday with two games.
At Alajuela, Costa Rica (due to continued security concerns over civil unrest in Nicaragua):
After taking game two of their series with visiting Club Franciscian 1-0 in regulation and squaring their series at 1-1 on aggregate, and with overtime dispensed with, Danilo Zuniga, Ervin Aguirre, Denis Espinoza, and Maykei Montiel all converted their spot kicks as Walter Ferretti won the penalty-kick shootout 4-1 to advance to the quarterfinals.
At San Salvador, El Salvador:
Yendrick Ruiz scored the series-winning goal in the 41st minute as Herediano, despite dropping a 2-1 game-two road decision to Santa Tecla, still won their series on away goals with the aggregate score at 2-2.
