US Open Cup: Dynamo (After Winner PK Thriller Over LAFC), Philly To Face Off For The Marbles

Both games in the US Open Cup tournament's semifinal round were contested on Wednesday.

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Cory Burke scored twice (59', 77') as the Philadelphia Union advanced to their third Open Cup Final (still seeking their first major piece of hardware) after dominating the visiting Chicago Fire 3-0.

At Houston:

After a 3-3 regulation draw which preceded thirty scoreless overtime minutes.  Darwin Ceren, Memo Rodriguez, Alberth Elis, Tomas Martinez, Luis Gil, Andrew Wenger, and Philippe Senderos all converted their spot kicks as the Houston Dynamo overcame Diego Rossi's regulation hat trick and won the penalty-kick shootout 7-6 in eight rounds over the visiting Los Angeles Football Club to advance to their first Open Cup Final.

The Houston Dynamo will host the Philadelphia Union in the Open Cup Final on September 26 with the winner qualifying for next year's CONCACAF Champions League.
