At Rio de Janeiro:
Giorgian De Arrascaeta (9') and Thiago Neves (77') each scored once as Cruzeiro blanked Flamengo 2-0 on the road in their all-Brailian series-opening match.
At Buenos Aires:
Ramon Abila (9') and Mauro Zarate (42') provided the scoring in Boca Juniors' 2-0 series-opening home blanking of Club Libertad.
