MLS: Wednesday Wins For Philly, Red Bulls, Timbers, Quakes

Four games were contested in Major League Soccer on Wednesday.

At Harrison, New Jersey:

Brian White's goal in the 55th minute lifted the New York Red Bulls to a 1-0 home victory over the Houston Dynamo----and into first place in both the Eastern Conference and Supporters' Shield races.

At Washington:

C.J. Sapong (29') and Fafa Picault (61') each scored once as the Philadelphia Union blanked DC United 2-0 on the road.

At San Jose, California:

Vako scored twice (15', 42') while Magnus Eriksson (54') and Chris Wondolowski (62) each scored once as the San Jose Earthquakes picked up their first home win since March 3 by knocking off FC Dallas 4-3.

At Portland, Oregon:

Diego Chara (63') and David Guzman (84') each scored once as the Portland Timbers snapped their four-game losing streak by blanking visiting Toronto FC 2-0.
