MLS: Joltin' Josef's Record-Breaking Goal Carries Five Stripes Past Sagging Lions; Galaxy And Visiting LAFC Draw In Freeway Derby

Two games were on the Friday Major League Soccer agenda.

At Orlando, Florida:

Josef Martinez broke a 22-year old MLS single-season record with his 28th goal in the 74th minute which proved to be the game winner as Atlanta United defeated Orlando City 2-1 on the road.

He also tied Portland's Diego Valeri's record, set last year, for most consecutive games (9) with at least one goal.

The Lions have won once and drawn once in their last 16 league contests.

At Carson, California:

Carlos Vela successfully converted his 51st-minute penalty kick for the game-tying goal to carry the Los Angeles Football Club to a 1-1 Freeway Derby road deadlock with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The Galaxy's Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his 499th career goal for club and country in the 15th minute.
