2010 FIFA World Cup, Group E: Japan Dominates Denmark and Advances; Netherlands Win Group

Group E play concluded Thursday in the World Cup in South Africa.

At Rustenburg:



Goals from Keisuke Honda (17', pictured here with Danish goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen unable to stop it), Yasuhito Endo (30'), and Shinji Okazaki (87') carried Japan to a 3-1 win over Denmark, assuring the Blue Samurai a berth in the knockout stage.

At Cape Town:





Robin Van Persie (65', seen here, beating goalkeeper Hamidou Souleymanou) and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (83') each scored a goal as the Netherlands locked up the top spot in Group E with a 2-1 win over already-eliminated Cameroon.

The Netherlands and Japan advanced to the knockout stage.
