2010 FIFA World Cup, Group A: Sacre Bleu! El Tri Have France On Brink Of Elimination

The second cycle of group stage matches in Group A play in the World Cup concluded Thursday night in South Africa.

At Polokwane:


Second-half goals from Javier Hernandez (64') and Cuauhtemoc Blanco (PK-79) carried Mexico to a 2-0 win over France, putting the 1998 champions and 2006 runners up on the brink of elimination from the tournament.  As for El Tri, they (and Uruguay) are all but assured of a berth in the Round of 16.  In this photo from Hassan Ammar for Associated Press, we see the Bleus' Nicolas Anelka battling Mexico's Hector Moreno for the ball.
