2010 FIFA World Cup, Group F: MAMA MIA! Kiwis Hold Azzurri To 1-1 Draw; Paraguay On Top After Blanking Slovakia

All four teams in Group F played their second World Cup group stage contests Sunday in South Africa.

At Bloemfontein:


With goals from Enrique Vera (27') and Cristian Riveros (86', that's him celebrating with teammates), Paraguay moved into the top spot in Group F with a 2-0 blanking of Slovakia.

At Nelspruit:



New Zealand pulled off another shocker, this time, holding defending champions Italy to a 1-1 stalemate.  Shane Smeltz put the All Whites in front with his goal past Italian goalkeeper Federico Marchetti in the 7th minute as capture in this Associated Press snapshot by Michael Sohn.  Vincenzo Iaquinta equalized for the Azzurri in the 29th minute on his successful penalty kick.
